We know Foundation Retreat sounds great, but we understand having more questions. Here are some things we wondered/worried about before we went to Foundation:

Which camp should I go to?

Whichever camp best fits your needs! Alpha and Omega camps will both feature the same speaker, band, games, number of counselors, theme nights and activities. The idea behind having two camps in two different locations is to give you more options! If you have conflicting dates with one camp, or you would prefer to attend the camp closest to you, that's a great way to make your decision! Neither camp interferes with Rush or Move-In dates so it is entirely up to you!

Move in day is Aug. 18th, right? ....NO! Beat the Rush

Beat the rush: Texas Tech advertises August 18th as the official move in day. But for over 10 years, they actually open the dorms one day before the advertised opening day. Foundation Retreat will end on Saturday the 17th of August. Upon arriving back on campus in the afternoon of the 17th, you will be able to move into your room. Moving in on Saturday is a great way to beat the rush and all the waiting lines that you will have to go through if you move in on the Sunday. Persons attending Foundation Retreat, people rushing Greek, and people participating in GoingBand will also be moving in on the 17th with you!

How do I get to camp?

Alpha:
Campers are responsible for their own transportation to Marble Falls. We will have a bus taking students between the DFW area and camp, so email us if you'd like more information on that option! Like and post on our Facebook page if you want to set up a carpool from other campers near your hometown. If you have any issues concerning transportation to or from camp, please email us! We will find a way to get you there (and back)!

Omega:
We have a complimentary bus ride from Lubbock to our campsite in Happy, Texas, and back to Lubbock after camp! You are more than welcome to drive yourself to camp, if it is more convenient for you. On your registration just let us know if you will (a)need a ride from Tech Campus to Foundation Retreat on the 14th and (b)if you will need a ride from Foundation Retreat back to Tech Campus on the 17th.

What if I am rushing Greek?

COME TO FOUNDATION! Foundation Retreat will NOT interfere with rush. This is a great way to meet other people who are rushing because so many come to Foundation! Also, ten percent of our staff is Greek!

If you are concerned about being in a time crunch on Saturday the 17th, please consider Alpha Camp that will be in Marble Falls, Texas August 5th-8th. Attending Alpha camp would completely eliminate that potential issue.

If you are going to Omega camp will be returning to Tech campus on Saturday the 17th, by noon. If you are rushing Greek or are thinking about rushing, the first informational meeting will be held later on that Saturday night. If you are concerned about the time crunch of the second camp and it interfering with your rush meetings, don’t stress, this has been done for many years and it is possible.

What if I am in Goin' Band?

COME TO FOUNDATION! We will be back by noon on Saturday the 17th. Just in time for practice. If you wish you can leave early on Saturday morning to be back even earlier if needed. If you are concerned about the time crunch of getting back in time for practice, please check out our first camp called Alpha!

What if I am a transfer student?

We want you to be a part of Foundation! Transfer students are welcome to come. We have had many transfer students in the past years.

What if I won't be able to relate to anyone there?

With 144 students on staff as well as all the other new students coming to camp, we're sure you will not only find someone like you, but most likely your best friends at Tech, future roommates, and a ton of Facebook adds. Believe us, we did! Staff comes from many different backgrounds, states, denominations and churches; we can't wait to find out where you're coming from!

What if I can't afford camp right now?

Good question. We know how expensive it is to be a college student. We have several scholarships available, just fill out the Scholarship Form to apply for financial help.

What if I need a place to stay for a day or two before camp?

If you need a place to stay in Lubbock for a day or two before camp check the box that says “temp. housing” and we can get something worked out for you.

What if I am ready to sign up?

Register Online now! We will be taking registrations all the way up to the second we leave. So tell everyone you know: "It is never too late to sign up for Foundation!"

What if Foundation isn't really that great?

If you are worried about Foundation being less than fulfilling, take a browse through last year's camp pictures- we promise they will change your mind!
